For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.
God has hard wired each of us for a specific purpose in life. In that wiring He divinely placed different gifts, talents, and anointings in order to fulfill the purpose. A gift an endowment, an ability or capacity given by God for the discharge of destiny. Most people have several gifts that they have developed into a skill or talent; something that they do effortlessly or passionately. What I have found is that we each have a dominant gift and a secondary gift. Each gift teaches and shapes us in the pursuit of purpose.
Our dominant gift creates wealth and is usually what the Holy Spirit uses to express His greatness through us. Our secondary gift is used to develop character. Joseph was an administrator in Potiphar’s house, prison, and as Prime Minister. Through that gift he learned to be patient, integrity, and forgiveness. He learned to abstain from sin and even run from it if it pursued him. But as a perceiver, his primary gift, he went from the prison to the palace making him the second most powerful man in the land.
Moses the perceiver, gave the people the Law and showed them what was right from wrong. He had to learn to temper his anger, be patient with people, etc.. But as an administrator, his dominant gift, he organized and lead the people out of Egypt.
David the psalmist worshipper went to the palace as a musician. David the warrior went to the palace as king!
What are your gifts? Most people don’t recognize or distinguish between their primary or secondary gifts because they aren’t trained to look for them. In this world system we have been trained to choose vocations according to the potential income they bring in, but it is our gifts that bring us more than income, they bring us life. Identifying these gifts is not only instrumental for selecting your vocation, but it is also crucial for fulfilling your destiny, maintaining good health, and experiencing overall satisfaction in life. Take the time to ask God, family, and friends to help you to identify your gifts. If you do, you will be on step closer to discovering your destiny.
