Everyone is gifted. God endowed you with the gifts you need in order to fulfill the purpose He has predestined for your life. Studies show that most people go to their grave without ever fulfilling their purpose. I believe one reason this occurs is because many people don’t make the correlation between their capacities, their gifts, and their purpose.
Everyone has the capacity to learn a skill. In fact, we get paid according to the skill sets that we bring to the table. So it’s not uncommon to become highly developed in a skill and use it to bring in a great deal of wealth, only to realize we find no fulfillment in it. A gift is different.
A gift or talent is an ability that comes naturally. In its raw formed it intrigues and rouses passion inside us. In its developed state it brings recognition, provision and a sense of completion.
Your dominant gift is what your life should be crafted around as it is the biggest clue to your purpose. It should be the answer to someone else’s problem and the primary source of your compensation.
When your vocation is based on your dominant gift, you will most likely excel and stand out from the crowd. This occurs because you draw energy from your work where others just draw a paycheck.
When you operate in your dominant gift you live a longer and more fulfilling life. You experience more passion and eu-stress than frustration and distress. You need to know and develop your dominant gift!
Here are seven things that help you identify your dominant gift:
What comes easy to you? What things do you learn quickly or they seem easy to you? That’s a clue to your gift.
Emotions Take notice of the activities that give you a feeling of joy fulfillment. That’s a clue to your dominant gift.
Energy What are you doing that causes you to suddenly feel energized? When you do it or prepare to do it you get a feeling of excitement and anticipation. That’s a clue to your dominant gift.
Accomplishments Review your past accomplishments and see if you can identify a pattern. If you can, these particular activities are nothing but expressions of your gifts.
Compliments Often other people can identify your strengths and weaknesses before you can. So, if you consistently get compliments on a particular activity, pay attention. They may be subconsciously pointing out your gift.
Compulsiveness Your gift is like a magnet that you are subconsciously pulled towards. You feel compelled to express your gift so it always comes out in some form or fashion. This is definitely a clue to your dominant gift.
Losing track of time Not being aware of how much time has gone by while you are doing something is one of the most reliable clues to your gift. For example it is after midnight and I am still up writing this post. Not only is it a clue, but a sign that it’s time to go to bed. Good night!!!
