“For we must all appear and be revealed as we are before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive [his pay] according to what he has done in the body, whether good or evil [considering what his purpose and motive have been, and what he has achieved, been busy with, and given himself and his attention to accomplishing].” 2 Corinthians 5”10 (AMP)
God created each one of us with a specific purpose in His mind for which He will hold us accountable. It is through our purpose that God intends to express His will. As we fulfill that purpose, others get to see a picture of the living and loving God manifested in action, just as He did through Jesus.
According to the scripture above, Jesus will judge all who profess to be Christians according to their purpose, motive, and accomplishments for Him. It is only what we do for Christ that will be rewarded. When we live our life according to the purpose God has for us, the rewards are great in this age and that which is to come.
God intended for us to discover and be trained from our youth in line with our purpose.
Proverbs 22:6 AMP tells us “Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it. When we are trained to fulfill our purpose in the Body of Christ, we benefit by having a rich and fulfilling life; God benefits by getting the glory.
Unfortunately most of us didn’t have the benefit of knowing our purpose and have spent most of our lives chasing decoys in the pursuit of happiness. Well decide to make this year your year of discovery. Be determined to live your life by design and start the pursuit of it today.
To find your purpose you must first understand it. Here are some basic principles to help.
Purpose is only realized when you are a benefit to someone outside of yourself.
If you live your life with only you and yours in mind, it will be difficult find your purpose.
Purpose must be pursued with a passion.
Pursuing purpose with all your heart justifies your desire for it, legitimizes your calling to it, and obligates God to help. Even if you are in a vocation outside of your calling begin the quest to find it. One of the beauties this economy is it is giving many Christians the opportunity re-evaluate their occupation and their heart and take a giant step towards destiny.
Purpose is to be discovered not selected.
When we choose vocations based upon income potential instead of in our potential, we may never find fulfillment in life. If we do it is usually short lived or based upon circumstances. This is often the reason why people switch careers, to find better paying jobs only to find they still have emptiness inside. That emptiness is the voice of their potential crying out to be used.
Your gifts and talents are clues to your purpose.
What is it that you do well and you know it! What comes easy to you and you like it? These things you were designed to create in the lives of others. Inventory and develop them.
God’s heart is wrapped up in your purpose. When you live you life according to His design, He gets as much joy and fulfillment as you do. His desire, and my prayer, is for you to stand before the judgment seat of Christ and have Him pronounce over you well done, good and faithful (to live your life according to the purpose I called you to) servant.
