“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
There are four biological seasons we experience in life on earth. We equate these biological seasons with the chronological seasons that the earth experiences each year. Seasons of Life In the spring of our life new birth and youth buds forth life lessons required for living. In our summer season, adulthood cultivates and produces life experiences in the form of strength, revenue, and off springs. As we enter the autumn of life, we harvest the strength of our adulthood and our mental vitality is equally divided between our memoirs and our dreams. Finally we enter our winter season were we live off the spoils and reminiscences. Then the whole cycle starts over as the next generation begins to dance to the rhythm of life. But there is a fifth season. The Word of God tells us that there is another season, a due season that is not on any man’s clock. A season that God schedules for us. (Galatians 6:9) The due season is a spiritual season that is activated by purpose. In Ecclesiastes, the book of Solomon’s memoirs, Solomon reveals the secret to the due season. He says that for every purpose there is a time/season. Purpose Driven Seasons The moment you decide to live your life according to purpose, no matter if that purpose is known or not, a due season gets scheduled for you. Unlike the biological seasons, due season can manifest at any time in life. For King Josiah it was during the spring season at the age of eight (2 Kings 22:1), for Jesus it was during the summer season at 30 (Luke 3:23), and for Moses he was in the autumn/winter season at 80. (Deuteronomy 34:7) Due season is part of a spiritual cycle that every purpose driven believer engages. It’s the expected harvest of from doing what you are supposed to do. It is the end result of sowing diligently. It is the final product after staying true to the process of becoming. As it relates to your purpose, due season appears after a progression of other spiritual seasons. Season of Discovery The first season is a season of discovery where you identify your purpose. During this season you also identify your gifts, talents, and passions. Discovery is also where most people get stuck because they don’t take the time to discover their purpose. Most people live their life according to circumstances and convenience. They average person dies within a 25 mile radius of their birth place. Why? Because it is convenient. They allow the circumstances from the ills of their life to stop them from stepping into their future in a bold way. Why? Because the present circumstance seem bigger than their future. Your purpose is locked inside you waiting to be revealed. It doesn’t matter how inconvenient of unfavorable the circumstance, now is the season to discover it. Season of Preparation The next season is the season of preparation. During this season you develop your gifts. You develop clarity and assurance to your calling. You learn who you are called to and where. Just as important, you learn who and where you are not called to and why. During this season there is also testing. Testing is where God uses life experiences to prove the purpose within. You become hardened to difficulties and determined in purpose. Due Season Afterward preparation and testing comes a due season where God manifest His glory through your purpose. During this season you continue to grow and maximize your purpose. You find all the provision necessary for all areas of life. As long as you remain balanced, no area of your life will have to go lacking. There is an elevation and impartation where you impart to those in preparation and move to the next level where the cycle begins again. So, determine where you are in life. Identify both your biological and spiritual season and adjust you behavior accordingly. If you haven’t already done so, decide to live according to God’s purpose and start the countdown to your due season. I am Andrew Freed and you are an Overcomer in Christ.
