I recently researched the history of Cubic Zirconia. It was mass manufactured beginning in 1976 to compete with the diamond. When compared to a diamond it’s almost as hard and cheaper to produce. In fact visually, Cubic Zirconia is superior because it is clean and has no impurities present. Cubic Zirconia is flawless.
The diamond is different. Because it has carbon and grey matter that didn’t develop there is impurity present in it which makes the diamond flawed. However, it is because of these impurities that make the diamond refract light so brilliantly. Its flaw is what makes the diamond so desirable!
We all have flaws! In our soul is the presence of impurities that hinders our life. Some of us have weaknesses that have hindered our success in relationships, prosperity, good health, and even peace of mind. In the pursuit of growth we can often get so focused on overcoming our weakness that we miss the beauty in them – that God’s grace is there.
At some point in your personal growth you will realize that the flaws that you just can’t seem to overcome were not meant to be. They are in your life as a reminder of God’s loving grace and that you need Him. You need Him in every area of you life, but especially where you are flawed.
Now this is not a license to let your weakness grow wild or even remain with you. This is a reminder that because of God’s grace, you weakness can become a non factor.
Here are a few suggestions for handling your flaws:
1) Identify your flaw, but don’t let your flaw become your identity. Our weaknesses may be part of our personal equation, but they are not the sum total of who we are. Never succumb to be defined by your limitations.
2) Look at you flaws as a point of entry. Paul said he boast in his infirmities so that the Power of Christ can work through them. The brilliance of light is never brighter than when it is surrounded by darkness. Likewise, God’s grace is never more powerful than when He shows up in the midst of your weakness.
3) Get understanding. Learning about your flaws empowers you. The spirit of wisdom and understanding are graces within themselves. Therefore, God’s grace could be just a book away. Wisdom is the principle thing therefore get wisdom, and in all you’re getting, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7)
