Do you know why your here? A good chance that if you are reading this post you don’t or aren’t sure. One of the biggest impacts God made in my life after salvation, and renewing my mind was to discover my purpose. It literally put my life and all the things I went through in perspective. I am sure that once you discover your purpose it will have the same effect on you to.
God created you for a specific reason and true fulfillment in life is hinged upon your discovery and pursuit of that reason. There is a place for you where your whole spirit, soul, and body are in perfect alignment. That place is your place of purpose.
I have found that in order to discover your purpose you must be purpose minded. The purpose of anything is only fulfilled when it is a benefit to something outside of itself. That means for you to be purpose minded you must first determine what you are or possess that will benefit others. For example, a chair is only fulfilled when I am sitting in it. A base ball bat is only good when I am swinging it. And a car, no matter how fancy it is, is best used to transport its passengers. You can only find your purpose when you begin to look inside to see where you can be a benefit to something outside of you.
Your purpose is tripartite.
To get the full understanding of God’s purpose for you, you need to be intimately aware of all three aspects of it. I was never big into numbers, but I am told that three is the number of completion. The complete picture of most things is found in three dimensions. The trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – gives us the complete picture of God. The complete picture of Man is comprised of spirit, soul, and body. A complete picture of time is measured in hours, minutes and seconds. Even location is captured by knowing the longitude, latitude, and altitude. Are you getting the complete picture? Pun intended. Well to know your God ordained purpose you need to know your identity, your destiny, and your assignment. All three of these things were given to us by God and the best way to know them is to go to the source of them.
Identity – Who are you?
Whenever God speaks to us He always speaks in reference to our identity, even if we don’t know it yet. He called Gideon a mighty man of valor while he was hiding from his enemies. He called Moses a deliver while shepherding someone else’s sheep. John the Baptist said “I am a voice….” And Jesus said “I am the Son of God.” Do you know who you are? Knowing your identity is important because if you don’t know who you are, you won’t know what you can do. In the identitysection of this site I will show you how to uncover your true identity.
Destiny – Why are you here?
Everyone has a destiny; Better said – everyone has a deposit that God wants you to make in the earth through them. Destiny is a journey that God has mapped out for you before you where even a thought in the mind of men. Fulfilling that destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. So in order for you to fulfill your destiny you must be intentional about taking steps to get on your path. You have unique gifts and passions custom designed for your journey. These two are like a compass and a map. Recognizing and understanding your gifts and passions will point you towards your destiny.
Assignment – What am I to do now?
Can you hear God? Hearing God is important to know your assignment. There is a place for you to be and a people for you to serve. In that place there is provision and amongst the people of that place you are celebrated. Your environment is just as important as your destiny because you can be doing the right thing, but in the wrong place and still have no fulfillment. Learn how God speaks and leads you to your next assignment.
Do you already know your purpose? I’m sure as discovered your purpose you were given insight that others would love to hear. Please feel free to share your comments especially when you finally figured it out.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
