“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
How Are You Wired?
Years ago when I was active duty military I was stationed in Korea. I lived in a dormitory on base, but from time to time I would take a trip in the country and stay on the economy. The first time I did, I plugged my 110v electric razor into the 220v outlet. When I turned it on, you guessed it, it worked for a minute, but it quickly burnt out. Why? Because my razor was not wired for 220 volts. This is the exact same reason why most people experience burn-out and un-fulfillment in their life today, because they are not wired for the things they are plugged into.
When God gave you your identity He wired you uniquely for a specific purpose. The better you understand how you are wired the easier it will be for you to discover that purpose. Like an electric razor in the right outlet, knowing your wiring reveals to you when you have plugged in to the right place.
The first step to knowing your identity is to look at how your wired. Your wiring is your personality. There is a reason why your are talkative, or quiet. Why you like being outdoors working with your hands, or inside reading. There is a even a reason why you have the struggles you do. It is all a part of your design.
Your personality consist of several different factors. These factors are called characteristic traits. We all, at any given time, display an vast array of characteristic trait, but you personality consist of the dominant traits that you most likely display. These traits are like a blueprint of your behavior. When you and others understand how these traits are put together inside of you, people can predict your behavior with a high degree of accuracy. You will know what environments you can thrive in, what type of people you work best with, what situations challenge you and how you will typically react to difficulty. All these are clues to your purpose.
There are many personality assessments that can help you learn your personality. Some of the more popular and accurate are the Strength Deployment Indicator (SDI), Big Five, the DISC, and Myers Brigg Type Indicator (MBTI). My two favorites are the MBTI and DISC. The DISC is easier to understand while the MBTI is more thorough with more research behind it. My MBTI code is INFJ and my DISC reading is SD. I will discuss more about each in future post.
Stay tuned and stay blessed!
