There is a vast array of personal growth books, speakers, websites, and blogs designed to help you become a better you. After years of working in training & development, management, and ministry I have found that many of these sites have Christian themes. However, there is a growing number of resources that promote New Age philosophies as the foundation for personal growth. As a result, many Christians have been drawn to one of two extremes; either they have embraced these philosophies as truths, or branded any personal growth teaching as heretical.
The mission of Personal Growth for Christians is to provide a trustworthy source for personal growth and success, while drawing closer to God. Many of the personal growth teachings and techniques fall into one of three categories:
The first group has its foundation deeply imbedded upon biblical principles. According to Stephen Covey they are called Character Ethics that encompasses teachings such as integrity, humility, fidelity, temperance, courage, justice patience, modesty, and the Golden Rule, emotional control, appreciation, etc…
The second group is amoral. That means they have no positive or negative moral or ethical foundation. They contain teachings on spiritual laws such as the law of attraction, the law of association, neurolinguistic programming, the power of the mind, and similar concepts. These concepts work for whoever will work them or against whoever will not.
The third group usually provide a entrance for demonic activity. They include practices such as hypnosis, pretentious interpersonal interactions, some eastern meditations, drawing energy from inanimate sources, etc…
Personal growth is a journey that requires reflection, introspection, and change. It is an endeavor to live from the inside out in order to find happiness, joy, fulfillment, and God’s purpose for life. God has placed an unlimited supply of undeveloped potential within the heart and soul. I want to help you turn that potential into transformational power. As we journey together I am looking forward to an exchange of inspiration and information to the glory of God. See you on the post.
